Privacy Policy

The short version

Watchnow collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising. Everything you do in the app stays on your device, and uninstalling the app removes all of it.

What we collect

Nothing. Watchnow has no user accounts, no sign-up flow, no analytics framework, and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not maintain any server-side database of users.

What's stored on your device

The app uses iOS UserDefaults to remember your preferences and lists between launches. This data lives only on your device, is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and is removed entirely when you delete the app.

The app also caches movie posters and backdrops on disk via Kingfisher to keep things fast and reduce data usage. Cached images are stored locally and can be cleared by iOS at any time.

Third-party services

The Movie Database (TMDB)

Watchnow uses the public TMDB API to fetch movie, TV, and actor information. When you browse, search, or open a title, the app sends a request to TMDB containing only the information needed to retrieve the content — for example, a search keyword or a numeric content ID. No personal data, device identifier, or user account information is included in these requests.

TMDB's privacy policy is available at themoviedb.org/privacy-policy.

JustWatch (streaming availability)

Streaming, rental, and purchase availability is sourced from JustWatch, exposed through TMDB's API. The same applies — only content IDs are sent, no personal data.

Region and language

Watchnow uses your device's region setting (set in iOS Settings → General → Language & Region) to determine which streaming providers to display. The region value is read locally and sent to TMDB only as part of the streaming availability query — it's not stored on our side and is not linked to your identity in any way.

Children's privacy

Watchnow is rated 12+ and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Because we collect no personal information at all, this section is effectively a formality — but we want to be explicit about it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of Watchnow adds optional iCloud sync — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and describe what changed. Material changes will be communicated in the app's release notes on the App Store.
